I’m still trying to decide if I like this idea of posting my unboxings as a review of each item.. It means that the posts are a lot longer than they might be if I were to just post a gallery of random photos… But it also means that I’ll get to look back on this and remember what was in each box. So.. Yeah…
We’ll see what happens in the future I guess.. 😛
I’ve gotta say, I love the Nerdy Post box! The logo is so cute and it’s this perfect shade of cozy grey. This was my first actual subscription box and I think it was the perfect introduction! But it’s what’s on the inside that counts of course, so without further ado.. let’s get critical!
THE POSTER: SHERLOCK QUOTE
This is one of the few quotes included that actually comes from the Sherlock books and not just from the BBC series, and it was immediately raised in my opinion because of that! Don’t get me wrong, I’m all for the BBC series, I just thought that a ‘Sherlock’ themed box might cover more aspects of Sherlock Holmes than just the series…
Anyway I love this poster, the quote is awesome, the design is really nice, and the colours are right up my alley!

THE POSTCARD: NERDY POSTCARD
This post card was a really original idea, the artist said in her info card that she specifically designed it so that parts of the quotes were hidden, just to give it that extra Sherlock vibe where you have to use your detective skills to read the quotes! I thought that was really clever.
However, and I know I’m being picky here, I don’t really like the look of the apple on the card, I don’t know why, and maybe once I’ve coloured it it will look nicer… But as it is, the apple is bugging me!

THE BOOKMARK: MORE QUOTES
I really like the designs of both of these sides of the bookmark a lot. The brainy is the new sexy one is totally my new mantra so I absolutely love that one! And I understand that the one about villains is a Moriarty quote which I quite like too.
The only thing I miiiiiiight say is that it bugs me that each side doesn’t match the other. And I only say that because I like matching my bookmarks to my books as I’m reading, and it’s going to bug me that when choose one side to match a book, the other side isn’t going to match it at all. Buuut, we’ll get past that I’m sure!

THE LARGE BOOKMARK: MOOOORE QUOTES
I understand that this is supposed to be used as either a mini print or a large bookmark, so the dimensions are a little strange. I don’t think I would use this as a bookmark for the same reason that I wasn’t sure about the actual bookmark: the two prints don’t match enough for me to actually use it with a book the way I like.
But as a print this could be very cute. Both quotes are very funny, especially the second one. And this would go great on my gallery wall at home so much happiness from me! 😀

THE MINI PRINT: MOAR QUOTES OF COURSE
This print features both my favourite and my least favourite of all the prints in this box, so that leaves me feeling pretty awkward and confused about the whole thing!
I absolutely love LOVE LOOOVE the watercolour style print, and I love the quote because it’s mysterious and it just sends shivers down my spine. But the red print is just not my style at all. I love the quote, again a Moriarty quote, and it’s so clever and sassy, but I just don’t like the design or the fonts or the colours so… yeah.
Luckily because it’s a print you can only show one side at a time anyway. So maybe it’s a bonus that I like one side and not the other? If I liked both sides equally I’d never know which side I wanted to display more and that would suck! 😛

THE INFO CARD: ONE FINAL QUOTE
I understand that this quote is a heartbreaker for anyone who watches the show, and I can see that it’s designed to look like a gravestone. I have a feeling that this is something that I will know instantly when I reach the point in the show that this references. And I have to say that the design, like with most of these items, is so clever – the way the quote and artwork work so closely together.
Other than that I can’t say much about it unfortunately, because it’s so obviously something linked specifically to the show. 😦

BONUS ITEM ONE: CRIME SCENE TAPE
This tape is soooooo cuuuuuuutee. I just.
AODIFJAOEWIFJAOGIJALXSDIDFV. I LOVE IT. It’s not your standard decorative washi tape, but it’s just so clever the way that it combines the design of the standard crime scene tape look with a quote at the same time. It makes me smile every time I look at it.
I’m not sure what I could use this for seeing as only Sherlock BBC fans will understand it so if I used it to wrap presents it would be a bit hit and miss.. But I love it so much I’ll find a way to show it off I’m sure!

BONUS ITEM TWO: MAGNIFYING GLASS STICKER
To be honest, the writing on this sticker was really hard to read at first because of the font and colour choices. But it does look really nice from a distance, and it’s an original idea for a quote sticker so I’ll give it bonus points for that!
All in all, 3/5 curiously satisfied magnifying glasses from me!
BONUS ITEM THREE: STICKY NOTES
I love the quote used in this, it’s so hilarious and so classic Sherlock. This is the only other quote from the box that I recognise as a quote from the original books. So that only adds to how much I love it.
The only downside is that I struggle to see how I can use these as stick notes because most of the space is taken up with the design and there’s not that much room for writing anything.. I guess I could use them to write quick notes for people instead of a card or piece of paper though. We’ll see!
So because of that uncertainty, this gets 3/5 curiously-satisfied magnifying glasses from me!
BONUS ITEM FOUR: BORED PIN
This pin was kind of busy in its design, and the smiley face in the O was almost impossible to see, which is a pity because of the smiley face as part of the lettering is really cool… it just got lost a little bit in the busyness of the whole design.
Plus I struggled to see how it was linked to Sherlock as well. Perhaps it’s some BBC reference that I’m missing?
Either way, this pin isn’t really my style, and I’m also not entirely sure what I would put it on either… So unfortunately this only got 2/5 curiously-satisfied magnifying glasses from me.
THE PICK OF THE MONTH
In terms of star ratings it’s a tie between the washi tape and the poster from me. And I think I’d have to pick the poster overall, because it’s a classic original Sherlock quote, and it’s already gone up on my gallery wall at home so clearly something draws me to it!
I think it’s a bit unfortunate that my first Nerdy Post experience was for a fandom that I’m not really a big part of… having not seen any of the show so far and only read a few of the stories. I can tell that a lot of this stuff is lost on me because of how much it is based around the BBC show and BBC quotes. So perhaps my opinion will change after I’ve watched the show, but for now I just feel a little disappointed that there wasn’t more equality between book Sherlock and show Sherlock.
I am very excited to see more Nerdy Post boxes in the future though, because it’s obvious that a lot of thought goes into the designs for these pieces and that the artist has a real talent for design!
